LASIK (Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis), commonly referred to as
laser eye surgery or laser vision correction, is a type of refractive surgery.

It is used to correct vision problems like myopia,
hyperopia, and effectively treats
astigmatism by reshaping the cornea.

Overview

LASIK eye surgery is the most commonly performed laser refractive surgery to correct vision problems. It can be a great alternative to glasses or contact lenses.

During LASIK surgery, a special cutting laser is used to reshape the cornea (the clear front part of the eye) to improve vision.

How It Works

In normal vision, the cornea bends (refracts) light precisely onto the retina. But in conditions like myopia, hyperopia, or astigmatism, light is bent incorrectly, causing blurred vision.

        Reshaping the cornea through LASIK helps light focus correctly, improving vision.

LASIK often provides clear vision without the need for glasses or contact lenses.

Most patients achieve 20/25 vision or better after the procedure.
