Association of Community Ophthalmologists of India (ACOIN) felicitated ‘Dr. Karan Bhatia’ with the ‘Dr. Samir Kumar Ghosh Endowment ACOIN Oration award’ in recognition of his selfless, sincere & dedicated community eye health services for the people of Uttar Pradesh on May 15, 2022 at Calcutta Medical College, West Bengal.
At the meeting, Dr. Bhatia also delivered an oration lecture on -‘Managing Corneal Perforations ’. He said that, ‘Corneal infections and blindness is curable, if appropriate steps are taken at the right time. Corneal transplantation is a life changing procedure with good successful outcomes’.
The All India Ophthalmological Society (AIOS) and Indian Journal of Ophthalmology (IJO) felicitated Dr. Karan Bhatia, with the AIOS IJO Silver Award for developing the MYX Technique, a novel surgical technique for sclera fixated Intra-ocular Lens Implantation, on June 3, 2022 at the Jio Convention Centre, Mumbai, India.
Dr. Karan Bhatia, received Runner’s Up Award (New Technique) at the Film Festival of All India Ophthalmological Society (FIFA 2022) on June 4, 2022 at the Jio Convention Centre, Mumbai, India.
Dr. Bhatia showed a very complex surgery, where a one eyed, young man, dependant on others for the simplest of tasks, underwent a partial thickness corneal transplantation (DSEK) along with Sclera Fixated IOL implantation by MYX Technique. He later recovered with very good vision and became independent for all his tasks.
